Easy Paloma Cocktail to Beat Your Winter Blues

Traditionally, I associate this drink with summertime, even though grapefruit is a winter fruit.

Grapefruit is one of my fave fruit juice mixers. It has that pucker-your-mouth sour taste that I enjoy with tequila. Be careful because grapefruit is a blood thinner and can hit quite strong if you mix it with alcohol. I try to warn anyone I think takes heart or blood pressure medication. Or anyone who considers themselves a lightweight. Still give this easy paloma cocktail a shot! Pun intended because I am super corny.

Although, you won’t need to worry too much because we are subbing in Squirt and not grapefruit juice! The ingredients are what make this bad boy sing. The Squirt here is light on the grapefruit flavor but still provides that citrus, effervescent taste to the cocktail that will make it feel like the summer of our youth! Am I the queen of overpromising and underdelivering? You tell me! Make this drink and yell at me in the comments. ? ? But the answer is yes probably. I mean did you read the title of the blog post. I have no powers over winter, or emotions. Why do you think I drink?

The other twist I add to my margaritas and palomas is that I add Tajin to the salt rim. If you haven’t had Tajin before it’s a chili lime seasoning blend that is great on everything. There is a little kick but I think most can manage the heat.

How easy is this drink to make?

It’s so stinkin’ easy because of Squirt. You can also cut the difficulty and salt the rim with salt and not salt and Tajin like us. Or don’t salt it at all, but that would make your Aunty KK very sad. If you are serving multiple people, you can prep your ingredients ahead of time to become a Paloma-making machine. Build your bar battle station and this drink becomes super quick to make.
