Tis the season for PSL’s, well PSW’s here at Whiskey While We Work. Pumpkin Spiced Whiskey that is. Nothing says fall like some pumpkin spiced things. I know ‘pumpkin spiced’ everything has exasperated some people, but hey when life gives you lemons- make it into a drink. So I did! A pretty tasty one if I say so myself.
ALCOHOLIC COLD BREW, NEED I SAY MORE?!
I used Heritage Distilling Co. Brown Sugar Bourbon a medium priced Bourbon. For infusing any type of spirit, you want to choose a spirit with 50% proof or higher. Infusing naturally lessens the alcohol content. We can’t have that! You’ll also want to go with a medium priced spirit, you don’t need a top shelf spirit for this. Heaven forbid you’re experimenting infusing and ruin a nice bottle. Don’t do it. Save your money girl.
The brown sugar gives the cocktail a sweeter side and blends well with the pumpkin spice. However a regular non-flavored Bourbon would definitely work.
I did two versions for all your indoors-y party people #livinthatcovidlife . One is more of a simple old fashion and the other a whisky sour-because of the egg white. The old fashion version is sweet and simple. The sour version (not sour at all) takes a little more effort, but results are just as wonderfully delicious. I also did a pumpkin spiced foam as a fun little addition – if you’re feeling a drink worth putting your pinkies up. ?
A fun twist on a classic just in time for the season of everything pumpkin spiced! Get on the bandwagon, it’s tasty. Coffee Infused Whiskey In a jar that can be sealed- a mason jar works perfect. Mix1 tbsp of coffee for every 5 oz of Whiskey. Keep in a cool place and agitate once or twice in a 24hr period. Strain coffee grinds out and keep whiskey in air tight container. Old Fashion Version Mix 2 oz of infused Whiskey, a couple dashes of bitters, and 1 tsp of simple syrup. Top off with pumpkin pie spiced foam. Whiskey Sour Version In a cocktail shaker with ice, add in 2 oz of infused Whiskey, 1 tsp of simple syrup, and an egg white. Shake for a good 30-40 seconds, until nice and frothy. Strain into a glass. Pumpkin Spiced Foam Take 1/4 cp of milk, and 1 tsp sugar and 1/4 tsp pumpkin pie spice. Whip up the milk with a milk frother like this one, until it’s nice and foamy.

I love both types of this cocktail. The sour version is nice and forthy like a real PSL, and old fashion version is a nice twist on the classic. What types of infused spirits have you tried, or want to try? Let us know in the comments section below.
Until next time,
